Okay, reminder to myself. Social media is a fucking toxic swamp.

I have literally the opposite, lol. I initially like what I write/draw, and then I'm all "wtf this is cringe how I even liked it". Then I remember that it's just a hobby for me, and it doesn't matter, because I don't even show 99.9% of things I make, to anyone, and I calm down on it.
the moment when a painting or drawing i'm making goes from "this is dogshit and i'm a fraud" to "actually we're back" can be so transcendently beautiful, it's a shame that it's one of the many things people who use AI are denying themselves

For all these reasons, I think that modern "AI" is scary. Not because it is inherently bad.

Technically, modern "AI" is like Star Trek TNG ship computer, tuned for various purposes, not the running of starship (sadly).

It's just another tech we don't know what to do with properly yet.

I mean, it is obvious l, that there are also ethical and environmental issues. I just see that humans are humans, and I don't want to hate people just because they use AI, especially if it is not for malicious reasons.

Why I'm writing all of this then?

Because I've been there, and now I'm not.
... a problem in a long run.

So. For me, cons outweigh pros a lot. They are not obvious, but they are important - at least, for me.
While I don't hate "AI" or people who use it, I don't want to use it anymore, because as I've found out, the problem was always in my head, not in something else.

I want to share my experience about writing with AI and why I don't do it anymore.

So, first of all, I wrote a lot for like 30 years, just as hobby. It was fun, but I become to write increasingly less from year to year. The better I wrote, the better writing I've demanded from myself.

And again. I start to think that people who are anti AI, don't understand why people choose AI instead of drawing themselves.
The reason is that there is a big difference between doodles of a beginner and a fully rendered image, even it is flawed. The first is not considered art, and the second is.

I doubt it helps, but it's a good idea nontheless.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I clearly feel something is wrong with this reasoning, but I can't point, what is.
I have a stupid question.

I was never intended to commission anything to any artist. I stopped using AI long ago. Instead, I begin to draw more myself.

Is this still a stealing from artists? Because I just make by myself something for what I could pay another human, a professional.

Yes, I draw sketches for fun, and I like it :D I don't call it art, because it clearly is not. But I like this activity. Still can't do anything more than rough sketches :D

Just random automaton. Not the best quality again, but I like its hands and cables :)

Well, I see what need to be worked on, but for the 2nd time with the tablet, I like it :D

I've jsut read the www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/scifi/mo... article, and I'm so confused. Is this a blatant propaganda and manipulation? Or the author just pretends before himself that he has no idea about Star Trek fandom?.. it is so stupid in everything, I've just facepalmed all the time.
Most Trekkies Are Republicans, Star Trek Can Embrace It Or Die
Star Trek has always had a specific audience, and it has never had much appeal outside that group. Now it’s … Continue reading "Most Trekkies Are Republicans, Star Trek Can Embrace It Or Die"

First ever character in D&D5.5e. Tradition to play elven rangers as a first ever characters in any edition after 1st is broken :D this one is a rogue, specialising in artifact hunt and dungeon delves (a simple concept I wanted to play after MtG Zendikar Rising release in 2020)

Yeah, no, this is not how it works. People keep cringe in replies, and it's like 1 person of all commenters addressed something more than cringe about people who use ChatGPT as a therapist or confidant. I'm not saying it's healthy, or that I'm expert on this matter, but, I can understand /1
Things on the ChatGPT sub-Reddit are getting grim.

The ALT text is really good thing. Without it I have no idea about what any art is about, for real. Idk how other people understand what is on the art beyond just an image itself.

Lol found an old drawing I did like 25 years ago in MS Paint. Hillarious how long it took to draw, and how off are proportions and anatomy despite of this. It was just an idea of elven berserker/wardancer that could transform into a wolfhound :D

I have a question to the void, I suppose. How the fuck one can find motivation to continue to draw or write as hobby (I have to emphasis on hobby)? I mean, I clearly lack imagination and very tempted to use AI for helping me in this, but I don't want to. How anyone found motivation and inspiration?

I honestly don't understand why so many people are against using Gen AI for hobbies. I write and draw for 30+ years as a hobby, and all of my creations are geniunely terrible. I am not true artist or writer. I get it why true artists and writers are against Gen AI, but why not use it for hobby?
