They're a way to show the Jedi had lost their way, just handled badly. The prequels were mostly ideas that could have been interesting, handled badly

on the plus side I learned how to make cutscenes and use Phantom Camera in Godot and how to bake normal maps in Blender from this project, so it's not a total loss
