the Fertile Lands' continental contour resembles the Americas. This is a land of fictional fantasy Native peoples (with a lot of variety within) and the Evil medieval army that comes to conquer and exterminate everyone... comes from the east. From the Old Lands. Which look like a chunk of Europe.

In my experience reading fantasy books from LatAm, some of them (mostly unconsciously I assume) replicate fantasy Europe in their maps and some go about a different way (and it tends to feel like a deliberate choice). For example, in Liliana Bodoc's Saga of the Borderlands (La Saga de los Confines),

I've always been tickled by the coincidence that in 1999 devs in both China and Argentina released some of the earliest video games in their respective histories very much in this vein: Korean War a.k.a. Battle for North Korea, and Malvinas 2032

That was my dream for years, I even started building my own one and it got pretty massive, I tried to place every single short story, video, comic, etc in it. Now I'm mostly disengaged from the lore and the games (will check the new shows likely, appreciate the occasional fan art and every so often check on accounts like yours and Spideraxe but that's been it for years now. I haven't read a short story in years because the motivation has been lost). But for the sake of answering the question: I think #1 priority should be resiliency. The timeline needs to be able to survive. Riot has a very strongly established pattern by now of starting new projects and abandoning them months or years later. I have to assume either management only cares for new projects while they give positive PR/keep a lot of fans engaged and hyped; or the way projects work at Riot means that they depend on volunteers and temporary groups and inevitably as people shuffle around they get left behind (like, it didn't seem like whoever updated Universe was paid for it even if they were a Rioter and that's understandably why updates were so sparse and insufficient). Possibly a mixture of both. So, if you accept that it's inevitable that Riot is going to materially support the timeline at the start and then leave it to rot: how do you keep that timeline alive? I feel like the only way is by relying on fans. If the site has a built-in and very streamlined way for fans to suggest amendments and additions then the workload of the likely singular person that'd be in charge of it could be heavily reduced. Though the problem then becomes... the lore community. Now that I think of it there were big chunks of it that had their issues. Don't mean to speak ill of the biggest lore youtuber ever, he seems like a nice guy, but at least back in the day his videos consistently had mistakes and those mistakes were repeating by his massive following (which were usually the ones introducing the lore to new fans, perpetrating the issue). But even among the more rigorous lore places (like subreddits and discords) there was people so obviously obsessed with specific characters or factions that I would kinda fear those persons banding together to upvote whatever changes to this hypothetical timeline that would make their preferred champion look better even if it might just be a non-confirmed specific interpretation of the lore. And the singular Riot employee hitting "accept" and integrating that into the Riot-sanctioned timeline. Yeah, I think I've talked myself out of that. To be honest, since an official, Riot-only timeline with long-term support is impossible, and a hybrid one is likely a bad idea, I think the kind of timeline I'd trust the most would be an old-fashioned one: one made and updated by a small group of rigorous lore fans (or a single one if they're good enough). And then judging by the overall community reaction in those other channels (discords, subreddits) I could more or less judge if such a timeline is doing a good job of it.
