A 6-hour layover in Nashville was just long enough to make a trip to a spot that’s been on my radar for a while now: Parnassus Books, owned by one of my favorite authors, Ann Patchett. She has signed every book of hers in the store. It was awesome! @parnassusbooks.bsky.social

Excited for my first game at Truist Park in Atlanta! Might have to wait a little longer…

If you’re anywhere near Sunnyvale tonight and want to stop by the Quarter Note Bar & Grill, you can check out some live music and we’d love to see you! Bionic Sloth hits the stage at 9, so we will go on around 10:30. Which is normally past my bedtime but…Rock and roll!!!

Found a bunch of random ‘84 Tiger cards while cleaning the attic. If you’re a baseball fan, the odds of remembering every player on your favorite team when you were 10 years old are pretty high!

Hanging out at the #FiestaBowl with my little brother, who is a proud Penn State alum! Since my team is horrible, I’ve adopted this one! 😂

Just finished reading my 52nd book of the year, with a couple of days to spare! Here are my favorite reads that came out in 2024:
1. “Long Island Compromise”
2. “James”
3. “All the Colors of the Dark”
4. “The Waters”
5. “The Hunter”
6. “Table for Two”
7. “I Cheerfully Refuse”

Throwback to six years ago, when I was just getting rolling with my ballpark blogging journeys and my wife found me this awesome gift! Hoping to knock a few more parks off my list in 2025, including Target Field and Kauffman Stadium!

Rickey was my first favorite player as a kid; as a little leaguer in the 80s who wanted to swipe every base possible, I was OBSESSED with him. He’s the main reason I was an Oakland A’s fan. I’m so sorry and sad to hear this news; he was way too young. RIP to the Man of Steal.

Randomly found the stamps we used to mail out my son’s baseball-themed first birthday party invitations back in 2007. Stamps were 39 cents and it turned out my son had zero interest in baseball lol

Had a chance to see my son play a bunch of songs as our band’s ‘opening act’ the other night; he definitely knows how to work a crowd. It’s honestly amazing to be able to witness your kids doing super cool things. Never take it for granted!

I’m in the very small demographic of people who actually saw baseball games at Tiger Stadium and still use a replica Tiger Stadium as a night light.

Good run this morning at the San Jose Turkey Trot! 10K in just over an hour. Now it’s time for a Lions victory and all the food (and a nap!). Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Today’s ticket stub: Game 4 of the 1984 World Series. It was a complete game 4-2 win for Jack Morris, and Alan Trammell hit two 2-run homers. I was 10 years old, and my friend Jason and I met channel 7 reporter Bill Bonds going into the game. He asked us who we thought would win lol. The Tigers!

When Nova takes me for our morning walk she always goes in a specific direction, and it’s always so that she can say hello over a fence to one of her BFFs.

The first closer I remember watching: Guillermo “Willie” Hernandez, who was lights-out for the World Series Champion Detroit Tigers in 1984. I still have his Coca-Cola can, 40 years later!

Today’s ticket stub: 30 years ago, before the Izzone existed or we had cell phones, my Michigan State basketball season ticket was this punch card. How we all didn’t lose them I have no idea. It was Jud Heathcoate’s final season and the 22-6 Spartans lost a stunner to Weber State in the first round.

If you’re anywhere near Redwood City for Thanksgiving and looking for a fun post-holiday way to dance away some calories on Friday 11/29, join our fun group, The Vida Blues Band for a set of rock ‘n roll cover tunes at Freewheel Brewing Company! Would love to see you there!

I’m a Tiger fan. This is Nova, who is also a Tiger fan (a cat is her best friend). Both of us were also A’s fans until they left Oakland.

I think maybe this one for me. Really long and really dark but so good.

They played Autograph’s mid-80s classic song ‘Turn Up the Radio’ going to commercial on Sunday Night Football just now, which of course made it so I had to go find the video to watch again. It’s worth it. So. Much. Hairspray. youtu.be/j8CcTYsMHYU?...

Today’s random ticket stub, from a Tuesday night in May 1991, the spring of my junior year in HS: the Baltimore Orioles stun Detroit 5-4 at Tiger Stadium, on a Tim Hullett go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth off of Paul Gibson. Cal & Billy Ripken both have two hits. Alan Trammell goes 4-5
