In the US something like this would take 3 to 4 months to get fixed.

Someday maybe the US will discover civilization. But I fear this place will collapse long before that happens. Perhaps Europe can colonise North America again. Discover it if you will and lead the savages to a better world.

It's a double/triple policy failure because it should have been a raised intersection and really wouldn't even need the lights. The US is 50 years behind the Netherlands in traffic design and safety and it is sad that we aren't just moving forward with the best practices policies already known.

remember that it is hot because our great grandparents, grandparents, and parents all were sold and believed that the personal automobile was gods gift of mobility to the masses and everything that came with it was perfect and if only we had one more lane then congestion would be fixed forever!

the Ram 2500 crowd looks at you like a weak soyboy for using mostly your own muscle and braving the deathways of the road system instead of being a "tough man" who barely uses their ankle muscles to press an accelerator and bullying others because their vehicle can kill most others.

But because it's so hot and everything is so far apart everyone drives everywhere, even really short distances, which is the problem. It's circular and insidious.

I imagine every wide highway as a train track running constant trains back and forth in one lane, and maybe a single car lane parallel to it, with a nice bike and walking path next to that. Paradise.

As much of a POS that Cuomo is, at least he accepts reality and doesn't go whine like a baby about the election being stolen or some shit, like every damn Republican has for the last 10 years. See Democrats do have some redeeming qualities.

A sad reality is that in the US people do this ,and way worse, while driving cars and trucks on public roads. From eating breakfast cereal, doing make up, I saw a man shaving (electric razor) coming off of the highway (an indictment of US infrastructure that a bike lane crosses on and off ramps).

Every time we fill up we are adding weight to the boot of big oil that is standing on all of our necks. It's time to demand good public transit and walkable cities and Viable Alternatives to Driving in every US city and town.

Or, a court order requiring them to ride a bicycle only for transportation or walk or use transit. No cars allowed for at least 1 year, or 5 years in jail. I bet they would choose the jail time.

When you say that I am forced to assume that you have, or would, make a similar maneuver and are trying to downplay the danger. If someone shoots a gun into a crowd and doesn't hit anyone it can still be attempted murder. This is no different. This person needs to do some jail time.

So much for "states rights". Republicans only believe in that when it allows them to hurt people and make lives harder. Make no mistake, chattel slavery is coming back to US under this Republican regime. Maybe not this term, but soon. They are going for 1860 again.

In the US I'm surprised they didn't get shot. Either by the homeowner or a neighbor thinking that they were trying to loot the property. Ain't 'murica great. It is total Hill Valley in Back to the future 2 vibes thanks to Biff in the white house.

I agree. My town has a "vision zero" program and some of them the best thing to do is of course "slow the cars". But whenever I speak with them the one thing they tell me they aren't able to do is "slow the cars". It is incredibly frustrating.

Fake news. This is just liberal propaganda to make the kids stop believing in God, and also a government money grab.

I live 1.5 miles away so I get to use a cargo bicycle. Honestly wouldn't even go there if I had to drive. That seems hellish. But in years I've never maxed the capacity of the cargo bike. We don't get the TP or Paper towels (just use a towel) so volume isn't great. And so close I can go weekly!

a thing, that almost all abductions are by an estranged parent or family member but the deaths from cars are very real. She clearly could not understand or engage with this reality so she changed the subject. The car brain of the typical US American goes very deep. So deep people don't want to see.
