Tangentially related; all of my relatives who forward “funny memes” on Facebook have shifted to almost exclusively sharing genAI memes. From a technical level, I notice the difference, but it still feels like the same drivel.

I 100% get people not being into genAI, and not wanting to have genAI content suggested to them. But if the content *I* want becomes indistinguishable from genAI, I think I’d need to stop and take stock in how and why I value things.

I kind of see a similar pattern in people reacting to the content they get from Google search. People have spend years teaching that service that they have a preference for blogs and low-effort news sources, but are now shocked that their search results are full of genAI.
