I’m in an opining mood…
My most-used use cases for AI is when I’m debugging some poorly documented open source software. I find it to be a much better use of my time to have a short back and forth with an agent about some esoteric u-boot configuration than digging through decades of mailing lists.

I 100% get people not being into genAI, and not wanting to have genAI content suggested to them. But if the content *I* want becomes indistinguishable from genAI, I think I’d need to stop and take stock in how and why I value things.

I should really start a thread of nonsense engineers say when they’re aggressively against system design.
“The user doesn’t need to know the version of the software.”
“The user doesn’t need to know the version of the software.”
“I don’t think we put enough effort into system design” gets me a lot of pushback, but it sure is fun watching my systems install an 8GB update in half the time it takes another system to install a 1.5MB update.
