There will always be people who are too tough on you.
Make sure you're not one of them.

The world can be harsh enough.

Editorial: U.S. President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, but while he deserves credit for his efforts, the path to lasting peace remains uncertain.
Trump’s Middle East breakthrough may prove fragile
Hamas is unlikely to give up its weapons. Its existence is predicated on armed resistance to the Jewish state and disarmed it will be prey to its enemies among the Palestinians.

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.
Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

Night night sweet dreamies

Some days it’s easy to doubt ourselves.
We question our place, our progress, our purpose.
But even in those quiet moments of uncertainty, your worth remains unchanged. You are worthy, loved, and needed, even when you can’t quite see it yourself

Now that I'm in a position of seniority it's possible to look around and see that everyone in authority everywhere is pretty average, frail, and fallible on the whole. Many people in power are there because of a deficit of intelligence: they lack the intelligence to be ethical or empathetic.

Jeffries: In that Oval Office meeting, which lasted over an hour, the amount of time spent talking about health insurance for undocumented immigrants was less than 10 seconds. You know why? Because they know it’s a lie. They didn’t even bother to bring it up—because the cameras weren’t rolling.

SCOOP — The White House instructed all federal agency leadership on Tuesday to send out a mandatory message to workers blaming the impending potential government shutdown on House Democrats, The Handbasket was first to learn. Absolutely no modifications to the email were permitted.

My story:
Trump mandates all federal agencies send email blaming Dems for potential gov’t shutdown
Workers call the partisan email "a vile slap in the face."

As @thomaszimmer.bsky.social has long argued, the main problem facing American democracy is not "polarization" so much as it is the right wing radicalization of the GOP against democracy. Klein understands this, but he seems hesitant to take it on board. thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/why-americ...
