Been a minute since I’ve been in the O’Shaughnessy at St. Kate’s, and I couldn’t be more grateful and happy to have been here tonight for an event with Ta-Nehisi Coates. Also ran into a little bird named @makeherway.bsky.social who I haven’t seen in a hot minute either!

Been a minute since I’ve been in the O’Shaughnessy at St. Kate’s, and I couldn’t be more grateful and happy to have been here tonight for an event with Ta-Nehisi Coates. Also ran into a little bird named @makeherway.bsky.social who I haven’t seen in a hot minute either!
Finally chilly enough and had an excuse to go out tonight to catch up with a friend to have a chance to wear this ridiculously awesome thrift store find from this past summer. Srsly check these epaulettes and embroidered/beaded coat-of-arms situations!

Also I harvested the rest of our spuds today, a tidy little haul, laid out to dry on the deck. I covered them with towels to keep the sun off, then figured I’d leave them out overnight, when what to my wondering eyes should appear just now but a masked little spud thief! (Ring cam vid of raccoon!)

Cabbages did better than I expected given I gave up early trying to control the ubiquitous cabbage/brassica worms, even if a couple of them look like oversized Brussels sprouts…and then there were 3!!! The culprit looking pleased with herself (and lucky for her apparently cabbage is fine for dogs😭)

As a last thought: this episode is so small, insignificant vs everything that’s devastatingly and overwhelmingly awful and wrong and harming so many people, animals and everything presently but kindness even/especially for small things is never a wasted effort, even while we tackle the big things

Let me share a short story about a loose/feral pittie in our neighborhood who I had begun to call “Maria” as in “how do you solve a problem like Maria?” Spoiler alert: no harm came to her and she has now been taken into care.
