Okay that’s all i can think of from the top of my head. But ya’ll, libraries are literally built and made FOR our communities. Pls go visit your local library and check out some books, or use their digital resources 🫶🏻

7- though some things like printing and copying are not free (at least at my library) they’re cheaper than other places. AND you get to use computers for free

6- it’s a free place where you can work. Many people don’t like coffee shops bc of the noise and the pressure to buy something. Libraries are quiet (most of the time lol) and there’s free wifi. Some libraries even offer rooms that you can book so you have a bit more privacy

5- the amount of free resources that we have for homework and school, even legal help, is astonishing. Ppl use those, especially because many of these resources are incredibly expensive and with a library card, THEYRE FREE

4- Literacy, especially rn, is so important. The literacy rate in this country is declining so fast that it’s honestly concerning. Having free access to literacy for everyone is so incredibly important.

3- PHYSICAL MEDIA IS SO IMPORTANT. We saw what happened with tiktok. They can literally take away anything digital at any moment.

2- the amount of kids programs that we have are insane. I think we have like at least one every day, if not, every two days. And lots of people show up to them. Sometimes we have to turn ppl away bc of the amount of ppl that we have in the room.

1- THEY’RE FREE. This is literally so valuable because EVERYONE can access it, no matter your financial situation.

Libraries are a great resource that lots of ppl dont think to utilize. We have lots of digital resources like ebooks and audiobooks along with a bunch of academic resources. They also offer free programs where u can learn to make things or programs that are simply informational.
