Finally, and this one is puzzling me, ideological self placement in the CCES data, which has 50k observations per election but only for a few electoral cycles, it actually looks like younger women have been placing themselves to the right of men if you weight the data and control for age.

Third, the ideological self placement has been similar across the sexes within generations, except a small blip by the boomer women driving that 1996 split.

Second: the Ideological "self placement" of men and women in the United states is much more conservative than in the other rich democracies. And there is not much a of a difference between men and women.

According to the ANES Self reported vote choice, the gender gap has not been as large as it was in 1996. Again we know from @cwolbrecht.bsky.social that the fact that it exists at all is not because of white women.

Unclear how the NV ballot initiative is going to go, given the ratio of Gen-Z men to boomer+ women. The FL initiative should win handily.

The blue wall states and southern states have more women 65+ among the population, except MI. NV and AZ have some of the lowest population shares of 65+ women.

There are more women in all the largest counties across the country, and in all the swing counties EXCEPT Washoe NV. So I think in NV the demographics are against her.

Is the chatter about the gender gap in this election overblown?

Small differences in preferences matter when there are MORE women among voters.

Women turn out at higher rates, and there are more of them in battleground countries.

So the gender gap can matter even if it isn't large. #gendersky
