Don't kid yourself, twitters influence on the last election was huge. The old broadcast medium only holds sway over older generations. Social media is where modern influence happens. Those sound bites move discussion here, and they can be created anywhere, not just at legacy broadcasts.

I think we've all encountered so many people making sincere takes from the most absurd positions that it's become a reflex at this point.

I'm not sure I can even trust the active user numbers of Twitter at this point. That place is overrun by bots.

Engagement on bsky looks solid. Growth is steady. Bot and spam accounts are actively banned. I'm feeling optimistic about the current trajectory.
