Serial Experiments Lain is a masterpiece and I think you could make a credible case that it's ended up being as influential as anything on this list, even in the West, even though it never quite reached mainstream status here. NGE and GitS, too (tho GitS SAC's influence obv overlaps w/ the movie's)
Take away all the GOAT candidates: The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Lost.
