I’ve been completely focused on direct impacts to communities but the longer term impacts to disaster research are going to be brutal. Already so little federal funding going to this critical work and now *gestures around*.
Just crushing. We were about to submit an NSF proposal related to the LA wildfires and now .... 🤷🏻♀️
I sure hope foundations and socially-minded VCs and I don't know who else are rolling up their sleeves and prepping their budgets, because we are *really* going to need y'all in the immediate future.

The National Science Foundation cancelled over 60 grant review panels today, effectively grinding funding of new projects to a halt.
The so-far indefinite pause comes as NSF grapples with the impact Trump's executive orders will have on their grantmaking process.
