I love this. It makes me think about an often frustrating attempt ensure a student produces what everyone else is producing rather than honouring what a student creates or learns at their level when they participate in the process.

The NRP Report (2000) found that independent silent reading may not be the most efficient use of instructional time.

In our study, we replicated the finding. We found that independent reading didn't contribute meaningfully to improved reading outcomes.

There is a shortage of school psychologists across Canada. This is at a time where access to critical mental health services for children and youth is becoming increasingly problematic. Canada needs more visibility of the profession, recruitment, training opportunities and programs.

I've been teaching for 25+ years, and it's only been within the last 5 that I was introduced to the hierarchy of evidence. I wonder how many programs and initiatives are promoted in #BCEd with little to no evidence. Is it a matter of who has the loudest voice & the largest platform? Hmm...
