What is she looking for? A resource of stories or more an inspiration to come up with stories or…

Yes- TL’s we love/need our rules. 😅 I also grapple with this. Thx for the discussion.:)

It depends:) I suspect you know your patrons well. This is key. Ask is there a hold on the book? Is the student someone who needs more time? Is the book being used for an assignment? There are lots of factors. I try and say yes. :)

I love this- and I especially love your message on the back screen. Most important thing these days- and all days.

That’s interesting. We ended up creating a word based system. Example- Nature being an overarching topic and then mammals being a shelf. We found the 300’s were problematic and kinda led us on this journey.

What are you planning? We did this last year. It was a big project, but it has impacted our NF usage in a wonderful way.

That’s a lot of work. It looks amazing. You should be proud.

I keep the library open til the last day. We are a secondary library and students need the resources. We are genrified so do inventory-sections at a time. Never finish completely. That’s okay. Looking forward to summer!💜🥳

Like how you have books front facing! Awesome. Sometimes I (or get students) to write comments on Post it’s about the books and stick them on. (« This is one of Ms —-‘s favourites! » If you love… » It’s super simple, but effective.

This is hard. I see libraries today & in 40 years as innovative and inclusive learning spaces. This includes texts, but other ways too. Library outdoor spaces, virtual spaces, spaces that can change, welcome speakers (human libraries) seed/tools/sharing/tech/play…And yes (always) books.

Thanks so much for sharing. Yes- we also have GN- although we interfile most of these titles now. Why did you end up choosing CC versus another area?

This particular group is being managed (dm’ed) by an amazing young teacher. I have also had senior students dm as well. I am nearby. Advertise, cheer and make sure we have all the supplies.

Easy to do! You have a great application.

Yes- we are a very diverse school with many new immigrants. (It’s so very wonderful.) I think these topics reflects them. Other libraries would have other key topics- I think. This is who we are-right now.

It’s interesting. Law, business, sports psychology, and careers are currently the busiest sections.

This is so beautiful! I will check this out. Thank-you. Our local public library has a bird watching kit (binoculars, bird cards etc) that has intrigued me.

I know it sounds crazy, but using a word based call numbering system along with themes that connect to our students really made a difference for us.

Book Creator is incredibly flexible. We have written and designed multimodal picture books, documenting field trips, etc. The map feature is very useful. Book Creator allows you to mash up with other apps too. I have used it now K-12. We do use it with IPads not the desktop version.

A1 #tlskychat Students are always asking for specific titles. I try to be responsive as it’s truly their library. We have also recently genrified our NF and this has inspired targeted purchases based on our Word based NF genres. Currently NF is hopping which is super exciting to see.

#TLSkyChat Q4 I am a high school TL and we love CANVA, Book Creator, and Padlet. Animation programs along with IMovie are also fun.
