1. Information thread for other Canadian small business owners. A few years ago, our payment processor, Desjardins, was acquired by Global Payments, and after a brief honeymoon, our monthly fees went up...and up...and up...and UP, until it was the single biggest expense after rent and paycheques.

empirically, there are at least some combinations of video format and subtitle format where vlc can happily render content with subs on my laptop screen but cannot cause the subs to be rendered on my tv over chromecast. not sure what the underlying technical reasons are
