What do you blame the Spanish blackout on? There is doubt that IBR generation should be kept to 30% max. www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

Actually, a good point here, I'd be curious what the "many parts of the world..." is being referred to here. Using Lazard as the source for cheap renewables is being challenged, rightly so unece.org/climate-chan...

We could certainly use some good news about EVs @maxfawcett.bsky.social

I would rather not import from the USA at all. How would your proposed solution work for a 2 week stretch in Jan. when temps don't rise above -30C (wind turbines don't operate below -30C)?
December 12, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Oops, I see Lazard is used as a reference, did you read the bottom of page 7? Instead, move "beyond LCOE" in order to "build reliable, affordable, and clean energy systems" as recommended by CATF & UNECE www.catf.us/2025/06/poli... & unece.org/sed/document...
November 28, 2025 at 10:54 PM
The problem is that David Pickup relies on Lazard's LCOE for pricing, whereas CATF and UNECE encourage to move "beyond LCOE" in order to "build reliable, affordable, and clean energy systems" @pembina.org @nationalobserver.com www.catf.us/2025/06/poli... & unece.org/sed/document...

Stating that renewable energy is "cheap" is falling for the LCOE fallacy and RMI's founder, Amory Lovins "soft path" energy theory that Germany did. Check this report thoroughly and check the facts, evidence, data and their receipts www.cis.org.au/publication/...

Which forecast is that?

In my opinion, your opinion of @mliebreich.bsky.social could be deemed controversial.

If one is concerned about permanently displacing fossil fuel production, reducing GHG emissions and pollution, it is of no value to talk about capacity, consumption provides a much better picture. In addition, renewables likely includes high emitting bioenergy robbieandrew.github.io/GCB2024/PNG/...

Thank you! For Lazard's LCOE report, be sure to read the bottom of page 7 which outlines the factors that are not examined within the scope of their reports, quite an extensive list. I include it in a slide in my presentation www.lazard.com/research-ins...

Currently India's electricity mix is absolutely dominated by coal with a small bit of low emissions generation. Too bad Canada LNG is too expensive, it would be a lesser evil than this stunningly large amount of coal
August 13, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Sure, but what scale? Do you agree with BNEF about BESS from late 2021 358GW/1TWh by 2030 at cost of $262 billion over 8 years? In 2024, BESS was 150GW/363GWh and global electricity consumption was 30,000TWh. This doesn't seem like nearly enough BESS to me. Some say TX will have 14GW/20GWh in '25

July 4, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Is there enough BESS? end of 2024 150GW/363GWh. BNEF in 2021 predicted 358GW/1TWh by 2030. What do you think of BNEF costs they mentioned in 2021 $262 billion from 2022 - 2030? Today global solar 1.4TW and wind 1.1TW

The extensive Lazard limitations that they themselves acknowledge should be also be acknowledged by anyone who uses Lazard studies, on page 7 (last year on page 8). Use this instead of Lazard www.catf.us/resource/bey...

Today Ireland is 418, predictions are difficult, especially about the future. Similar predictions were made about Germany, they are now acceptable to nuclear being considered "green" in the EU.
