A ceasefire is not just a pause—it’s a lifeline.

12 years old.

Survived to a shipwreck in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea clinged to a life jacket.

The Italian Red Cross in Lampedusa is now taking care of her.

This year we @theifrc.bsky.social lost 31 colleagues in the line of duty – 28 in violent attacks and 3 in accidents.

Ahead of International Volunteer Day, we gathered in Geneva to honor them and send a clear message: violence against humanitarian workers must stop.

In Lebanon, the protection of humanitarian teams is more critical now than ever.

Multiple incidents have occurred over the last couple of months: Lebanese Red Cross volunteers sustained injuries and got 14 vehicles damaged. This is completely unacceptable.

Medical teams must be protected.

Half of the countries worldwide are not protected by multi-hazard early warning and early action, despite the potential to cut damages by 30% with just 24 hours' notice.

The IFRC calls on world leaders to get ahead of disasters with preparedness and anticipatory action. #COP29

A drop in the ocean.

The situation in Gaza is critical; only an alarmingly small amount of aid is reaching those in desperate need.

We must act now to bring relief to those who are suffering.
