Perhaps some #Lutherans might assist our #Catholic neighbors by standing in front of the doors of these churches during the #SpanishMasses so that they may worship undisturbed.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."

Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

Republicans understand that the best way to kill social programs is to paint their beneficiaries as Black, as support for these programs declines — even amongst white people who need them — when they think large numbers of Black people will benefit.

I understand bailing out farmers who suffered some sort of natural disaster or blight to their crops from a parasite, disease, etc.

But that’s not what is happening. They can’t sell their abundant crops because of one man. Trump did it, he can pay the farmers out of his crypto.

You know that thing you do where you've lost someone, and then you start calling them? Just without thinking....you pick up the phone?

Saw that Robert Redford died and started to call my mom. Missing the conversation we would have had.

“Refusing to harden your heart is a radical act.” — @artofmarza.bsky.social

It’s hard to stand in the face of a movement that hates empathy and respond with… empathy. It’s hard to counter cruelty with compassion. But that’s the way forward.

If I become like my enemy, my enemy has won.
As humans we find “Love your enemies” to be one of Jesus’s hardest commands. And for us, it *is* very hard.

But I wonder if this was a command Jesus gave in the same tone as a parent saying “Don’t drink drain cleaner,” and for a similar reason.

One day after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on racial profiling, federal agents swarmed a car in Van Nuys.

Four masked agents with guns drawn yanked people out, slammed them to the ground, and pointed a weapon at a pregnant woman.

There is no justification for this. None.

I"ll give you one guess.
Why Iowa Chooses Not to Clean Up Its Polluted Water
Runoff from fields and feedlots fills Iowa’s waterways with dangerous nitrates. It would be fixable if not for the political and economic power of Big Ag.

Great thread!

As an undergraduate, I published several scientific papers in top, peer-reviewed journals. I would not have been referred to as an "academic."

If the NYT had quoted me at all, I'm sure "bleached blonde co-ed" would have been the best they could do.
The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

Selfishness
Lack of Accountability
Cowardice
Moral Rot

Yup...that sums it up.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Murkowski’s vote. It contains, in one action, so much that defines our pathetic political moment:

Selfishness: I’m taking care of me and mine, the rest of you can pound sand;

Lack of accountability: I know the bill is bad, hopefully someone else will fix it;
