This is big: elected Republicans in a deep-red state saying NO to Trump even after his personal plea.

The balance is shifting - and we have to keep up the pressure everywhere.
Indiana likely will not push forward with redistricting despite pressure from White House
It’s a massive blow to the White House’s efforts to shore up a Republican House majority next year.

@jeremymberg.bsky.social Have you seen this? In the past, the application deadlines remained and were processed, once the government re-opened; but are they going to make us resubmit proposals already submitted for Oct/Nov deadlines? Any thoughts on this?

Just got an email from my SRO for the study section that was missed in October. Good news is that they are trying to reschedule ASAP (Dec/Jan). The bad news is that CSR is mandating that only the the top third (not half) of applications will get discussed for the next 2 rounds.

Interesting and disheartening thread on NIH grant applications moving forward. #RAdminsky #NIH
Another new policy from the geniuses in NIH leadership.

Apparently, ~70% of grant applications for most mechanisms will not be "triaged", i.e. not discussed at study section.

This is an increase from the ~50% level that has been in place for many years.

I don't know the rationale for this

Where you live shouldn’t decide how long you live—but in Indiana, it often does.

New maps = fewer healthcare champions = more people left behind.

Call the House (800-382-9842) and Senate (800-382-9467) to say NO to gerrymandering.

Is it “radically leftist” to believe that marginalized groups should not be excluded from NIH research? …that throwing away public resources by terminating studies just before they complete?

If so, I wear the label proudly.

And it is absolutely my job to criticize such policies at work.
