Working on "Archipelago"
It's more concise than "chock-a-block" so I don't see the issue

Ok that is VERY interesting. Like two staff members alternating their song pick, and one just "found the best and forgot the rest"

Sounds like they didn't play it enough tbh

So similar to a seed system, you could share this map image!

Though perhaps giving away the whole map takes away some of the fun 😆

When you move to a different tile, the game just looks up which kind of tile to land the player on based on the red value for that particular texture coordinate.

The plan then is I can encode other stuff into the green and blue channels.

But where is The Lion King for the SNES

Reminds me I had a carpenter show up 2 hours early because "he was in the neighbourhood"

Damn, I think more games need cassowaries!

Yep, the effort there is in the algorithm design rather than the level/game design and it's a very clear formula to lay out!

I've considered making something like it in the past but that kind of gameplay is only fun for me if the narrative works with it (Hades being the prime example)

They clap like seals at anything that looks like a rage game or friendslop

Oh boy, and avoid gamedev Reddit while you're at it. The indie dev community is surprisingly toxic - just telling everyone that their game will "fail" if they don't get X number of wishlists etc.

Sorry I ranted about this in a previous post 😆

Ah reminds me of Just Cause 2, when I would take the boat out (literally - take someone else's) and it would take like 10 minutes to cross from one island to another

I honestly feel you though; the worst part has been feeling like you are shouting into the void and nobody cares about this thing you've sunk your soul into.

It makes me want to focus my energy next time on just cooking and building a cool thing rather than obsessing over the metrics

Never forget that the majority of people have never released a game, then the majority of the people who STARTED making one never even finished that.

It's an incredible journey that is hopefully just the beginning!

oh damn, I had high hopes for that 😭
