Well my ship’s been split to splinters, and it’s sinking fast. Been drownin’ in the poison, got no future got no past. But my heart is not weary. It’s light and it’s free. I got nothing but affection for all those who’ve sailed with me.
Most of the time people judge music like they judge other people as opposed to in musical terms. The music is bad because it’s “whiny” or “immature” or “boring” or “vulgar,” not because it’s not musically complex or interesting.

Not saying this is a bad way to look at it, just an observation.

I either don’t post, or I’m too opinionated.

But the thing is, I’m too opinionated all the time, it’s just that the general populace is unaware of it. And most of the time I’m unaware of how most people don’t appreciate a person with too many opinions.

I learned today that the highest grossing movie of the year is Ne Zha 2, a Chinese animated film which grossed almost all its box office in China. It’s the highest grossing animated movie ever, and the 5th highest grossing movie, period. How have I not heard of this till now? Am I in a bubble?

I like the way I think. I like the content, contours, and construction of my thoughts.

I don’t think other people do as much as me.

I need to find some place in the world where the way I think fits perfectly. Still haven’t found what I’m looking for.

Tarantino said he didn’t know what the best FILM is, but the best MOVIE is Jaws. Most movies like that build stories around the situation (Towering Inferno, Die Hard) and there’s very few where the characters are better than the situation. You see Twister for tornados, not romantic relationships.

There’s a word for infinity when it exclusively deals with time: forever.

There’s no similar word when it comes to infinite space.

Not everyone has to be cool. Mr. Rogers isn’t cool, unless “cool” means something generically/vaguely positive. He’s not cool in the way Bowie is cool. But if Mr. Rogers were more cool, he wouldn’t be the person we love. Everyone should strive to be the best version of themselves, whatever that is.

People in their 70s were more likely to vote for Harris than people in their 20s. Looks like Gen Z (especially men) might be the most conservative generation, if these trends hold. Great, just great.

Op, I guess that half a whole grape I bit off is gonna manhandle it’s way down my throat. Guess I’m swallowing the whole thing right this second, cause it’s already happened.

People hate on all kinds of movies - Pulp Fiction, Oppenheimer, 2001, Barbie, Everything Everywhere All At Once, anything too “artsy” (see much of the Sights and Sounds list).

Have you ever met anyone who thinks Goodfellas is less than good? I feel that’s one of the least objectionable movies.

If you want a (somewhat) under appreciated Gene Hackman movie, try Coppola’s The Conversation, made in between the first two Godfather movies. Pretty heady film.

Bernie is barn storming the country, energizing folks to fight fascism. Est. Dems aren’t. He has a clear moral framework and idea for where the country should go, which is what people want from the Democratic Party. It’s pretty indicting that the establishment Dems didn’t see him as the way forward.

On all the Steely Dan album photos, Donald Fagen is either a hot guy or a nerd.

Once upon a time I was in Florida auditioning for film school (I got an alternate and then never tried to get into Grad School again). I came downstairs for breakfast in a suit, and there was a big fancy gathering with men in suits and women in dresses. I still don’t know what the event was. 1/3

“Lily Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts” is ESSENTIAL to Blood On The Tracks. Shifting from 1st to 3rd person has precedent earlier in the album, and LR&TJOH is the point in the narrator’s journey where he goes from in the throes to reflective after reflecting on love thru the lens of a Wild West tale

Filmed comedies for comedy sake is a movie genre on life support. Or so it seems to me, having not sought out a comedy in theaters in years. The comedy films I HAVE seen were all streaming (Pop Tart movie, Spirited). And I don’t count multi-genre movies life Barbie, where comedy isn’t the goal.

150 million chickens, turkeys & ducks (who had no choice but to be bred into existence) have been mass killed since the bird flu, & the manner has been horrific (burying alive, heating to death, etc.). Perhaps the solution to high egg prices is to not buy any so that stops. It’s not all about us.

We shouldn’t wish for hardship just so it can be overcome. What’s the perfect world? What’s utopia? It’s where everyone is spoiled.
