American by birth, Marine by choice, and still alive by the grace of God. I am a Marxist halfway to law school with the aims of becoming a civil rights attorney. Maybe dabbling as a labor organizer.
Law enforcement tends to actively root out such voices. You ride for the brand, or you find yourself on a 12 on 12 off graveyard schedule in a dangerous beat with no back up and all of your time off requests denied.

Well before that actually. It was first coined in the early 1980's when police departments first began militarizing. They used a ton of scientific, medical, and technical terminology to gloss over how many people were dying in custody. (Though Axon did pay consultants to proliferate it's use)

It's worse than that, actually. It's pretty much just a term for "died in police custody" that was created as a rubber stamp for police medical examiners to clear cops of wrongdoing with. It is not a condition which any actual medical practitioner has acknowledged as existing.

Wellness grifting is basically just opportunists cashing in on the shift towards anti-intellectual and anti-establishment populism which has been rising in influence for some time now.

It's a bit difficult to have nuanced, informed conversations with a Character limit imposed. Everything just gets boiled down to who has the snarkiest take or snappiest comeback. Needless to say, such a conversation isn't going to be had here.

And ignorant of history. The church was a huge repository of scholarly knowledge and directly funded and supported a ton of early scientific inquiry. It's the only reason we even still have a lot of texts and manuscripts.

I was a cop during COVID. The Mental and financial health of this country imploded due to COVID measures. You could watch it unfold in our community in real time. The ensuing increase in social problems and criminal or antisocial behavior utterly swamped us. I quit. Couldn't do it anymore.

If you weren't a part of the upwardly mobile corporate class during COVID, you got screwed. Hard. That's not really a very controversial stance in my opinion.

"As a straight white upper middle class person during (INSERT ERA) everything was fine, I don't see what the problem is!"

Yeah, that's kinda the whole problem.

I'm currently National Guard. Soldiers have a duty to refuse to obey unlawful orders.

There's a lot of sleepy eyed wierdos who are just going to follow the path of least resistance though. Not gonna sugar coat that. They will always find somebody willing. Not me tho. Miss me with that shit.

Just a fun fact, but that's where the neo-nazi headquarters is located.

Would be a pretty short term. The guy is 78 and lives off of big Mac's and diet coke.

The Old man's series was part of what kept me sane during day after day of sentry duty on FOBs in Afghanistan. I was excited to see you on this platform when I created my account.

Doesn't prolonged use also cause permanent bladder damage and lead to involuntary pants-wetting?

To caveat off of that, I was a cop and in one case dealt with sexual abuse occurring at an unlicensed daycare.

How well do you REALLY know your neighbor? Well enough to give them your kid 8 hours a day?

At least teachers are licensed, background checked, and supervised by an administration.

This is true. I personally witnessed it happen.
