Great example of why flex posts and paint are bullshit
SDOT’s Georgetown to Downtown protected bike lane isn’t even open yet and it’s already failing.

I wonder if Franz Ferdinand ever thought about touring Sarajevo in an open-top limousine.

It would be so cool.

Painted bike lanes don’t stop people that don’t care.

THAT is the failure of SDOT.

I all but guarantee that vehicle speeds will increase along this corridor when this project is fully complete.

I hope I am wrong.
My #SpottslightOnSeattle series cycles over to Beacon Hill to celebrate construction progress on the Beacon Ave S and 15th Ave S Safety Project
Freshly baked loaves on both sides of 15th create a safer and more pleasant environment for all users, and a great bike connection to the CID and Downtown

Never underestimate when alternative mobility people say "Drivers want to kill us."

I had a gun pulled on me last year for the same reason, right next to 2 elementary schools.

This is sickening.
I just heard that a fellow low-vision nondriver and disability advocate was killed. He and a friend were almost hit in a crosswalk in Burien, WA and when they expressed frustration, the driver got out and attacked Steven. He died from his injuries.
I'm heartbroken and so angry.

Why doesn't the bus, the larger of the vehicles, not simply eat the rest of the cars?

Absolutely fascinating that multiple people thought this was a better use of the land.

Mind blowing.

This is your destination…right??
Cuz why would it need to continue across an I-5 off ramp that people regularly go 60mph on???

Literally better for every user of this road.

No discontinuous crossings. No prioritization. Equal accessibility across multiple modes of transportation. No favoritism.

The crowd is getting restless. "The critical question: how many people have been killed on Lake Washington Boulevard?," someone yells out.
"How many are necessary?," someone shoots back.

17 minute wait for the SLU streetcar?

You wonder why there’s no ridership.

Better headways = better ridership

"Under the new law, a negligent driver who kills someone will face ... the suspension of driving privileges for 90 days."

Washington State saying "OK just don't do it again" 🤦‍♂️

This is realistically the only way to get to the Green River Trail by bike.
Seattle Fire is currently responding to a driver hitting someone walking at 14th Ave S and S Henderson Street in South Park.

The number of cars parked in the not-yet-finished-but-basically-finished 15th Ave bike lane is fucking hilarious

(And nothing will change when it “opens”)

An Edmonton (Canada) suburb installed a "bike lane" that has stop and "cyclists dismount" signs for cyclists at EVERY SINGLE CAR CROSSING - at EVERY exit from every parking lot, etc. There are dozens of them in a 2km stretch. Stop. Dismount. Stop. Dismount. Stop. Dismount. Over, and over, and over.

Does SDOT have a spine anymore?

These are literally safety improvements. They should not need public input (let alone public defense!).

As a wise one once said: Make It So.
Alert: It is once again time to voice overwhelming support for a safer Lake Washington Blvd

This is what happens when SDOT fails to repaint existing bike lanes.

It’s been 6 months since this intersection was paved. Never painted.

Bikes are not taking space from cars. Cars are stealing from people.

@spottnik.bsky.social anything you can do? 15th & Beacon
