My favorite record in AC/DC’s entire catalog (not that there’s any bad ones).

Green chili rellenos at Cafe 66 outside of Albuquerque got me wondering why I don’t live in New Mexico.

Listening to some records as I get some work done on Labor Day, and here’s a perfect example of a recent album that somehow sounds way better on vinyl.

Was reminded this morning Bluesky that needs more dog pics. Here’s our one year-old Dolly doing what she does best: playing and having a great time. #dogsofbluesky

#nowspinning arguably two of the greatest solo records in the history of rock ‘n roll/heavy metal, in honor of a fallen legend.

I don’t read much political science, but this is an insightful book that shows how peripheral actors commonly drive territorial expansion, along with the geopolitical risks in assuming that expansion is always controlled, planned and organized by presidents, the center, etc.

There’s something about owning a dog that turns someone into an amateur photographer. Our dog Dolly (the Doodle at right) with her best friend Ella earlier today.

I’ve often told my students that I wished I had an image of the US Army marching against the Bonus Army in front the US Capitol or White House in the summer of ‘32. I’ve seen plenty of images of the camp, but I’d never seen the image below until today. I find this chilling. #skystorians 🗃️

Thrash classic from 1988 that is stunningly applicable to today:

“Their money tips her scales again, make a deal
just what is truth, I cannot tell
Cannot feel”

Had a lovely time hosting my dissertation advisor, @benjaminhjohns1.bsky.social, who gave a fantastic talk last night at WTAMU based on his brand new book, Texas: An American History. Bonus: Ben’s mom Pam drove over from Santa Fe and joined us (and took all these pics)! #skystorians 🗃️

Sharing this for at the request of my parents (not yet on Bluesky), who are devoting their retirement years to the fight against childhood cancer (my dad is a retired pediatric oncologist). I couldn’t be prouder of them. Hopefully this might reach a few people in the DFW area. Feel free to share!

This book is a model for how to write historical scholarship that’s relevant to the general public. Hahn’s examination of the deep roots of illiberalism in US history goes a long way to explaining the current crisis we find ourselves in. Highly recommended. 🗃️ #booksky
