Apparently the original webtoon has a whole queer romantic sub-narrative that the drama cut (with a lot of webtoon fans complaining that the heteronormative ending undercuts the feminist themes of the drama)

As Murakami's newest novel hits bookshelves in English translation, I am reminded why I purged him from my Japanese literature class. Anyways, here's an excellent review of why his new novel isn't worth the read:
