Post a picture of yourself to show the newbies what they're dealing with

the queer poetic sensory experiences offered by tsai ming-liang and apichatpong weerasethakul sit at the core of my being, shaping how i perceive and experience the world around me. few artists in life will have as profound an impact as these two had on the way i choose to live.

werckmeister harmonies is the closest thing i've ever had to a religious experience, truly revelatory. a film about a man enraptured by the sheer scale that contextualizes all we experience. a whale. the solar system. the society we live in. the world we cannot imagine and the world we can.

some other way of life envisioned in the sixties suffocated by the reagan era. labyrinthine americana, hazy and disoriented.
“may we trust that this blessed ship is bound for some better shore, some undrowned lemuria, risen and redeemed, where the american fate, mercifully, failed to transpire."

i'm glad i lived some life before i saw this. it's hard not to tear up thinking of almost any line pulled from the final half hour. a man lost in a desert. a man screaming of the end times into the void of a texas highway pat on the back by a passing stranger. half a boy's life. paris, texas.

gut-wrenching and oh so compassionate. the now late gena rowlands gave what could be cinema's greatest performances while collaborating with her husband john cassavetes. few things speak more deeply to me than these three films.
"love is a stream. it is continuous, it doesn't stop."

hope within hopelessness. living and suffering made synonymous. few films so beautiful, few so horrific. one of the greatest cold opens in cinema. the first time i saw this i wept with unidentifiable emotions i've never felt elsewhere in my life. andrei rublev is essential.

the citizen kane of SOV. queer as fuck and the coolest thing ever shot at disney land. few things are better than blonde death.

red desert. a film about alienation in an ever progressing world. the need to engage with what the world tells you to can destroy you, but so can allowing it to pass you by for so long that you can never catch up. beautiful and heartbreaking.
