America is deeply, culturally authoritarian in many ways. It’s also deeply democratic in other ways. Namely, in many people’s attitudes.

Which is part of why I think we have more hope than some people realize.
WSJ: Cadwalader’s pact with Trump “is backfiring, adding to an exodus of lawyers that has placed the firm on uncertain footing.”

You know the *only* reason he got out so fast was a reporter live posted about this for hours. And, a large amount of public pressure.

Every time someone gets grabbed, there has to be a robust public response immediately.

@jbpritzker.bsky.social should start a fund to back law firms and universities that stand up to the extortion racket - and recruit others. Fight fire with fire.

NEW: The greatest threat to Trump’s authoritarian dream is not the courts — it is free and fair elections, @marcelias.bsky.social writes. The president's latest illegal executive order is a wake-up call for those who believe the danger of election subversion has passed.

Yesterday, Michael Waltz claimed that he’s “never met, don’t know, never communicated with” Jeffrey Goldberg.

Here’s a photo of Waltz standing next to Goldberg during a 2021 event at the French Embassy.

The event Waltz attended—a Q&A with a French filmmaker—was moderated by Goldberg.

I'm praying that this obvious & dangerous incompetence breaks the spell for some and they understand that there is no good bargain with a bully, especially one who can't deliver the protection that's being offered in these extortion rackets.

There are hundreds of people right here in Kentucky taking action this weekend.

A town hall in Lexington, a Medicaid rally in Louisville, a Veterans rally in Owensboro, and the list goes on.

None of us are powerless. Ever. May we never forget it.

In the dark of night, the Rs in KY voted to rip healthcare away from working men and women in rural areas, putting those folks and their families in danger - folks who are working but cant afford or aren't offered private health insurance.
The most likely Medicaid cuts would hit rural areas the hardest • Kentucky Lantern
Working-age adults in small towns and rural areas are more likely to be covered by Medicaid, a dilemma for Republicans looking to cut the health care program.

A working class focused, pro-democracy reform party will win and win big in the near future. The DNC/committees will have first right of refusal on being that party. Today, it’s unclear what they will choose.

Kentucky Rs want an “every man for themselves” state. No vision for anyone but the ultra wealthy and well connected. And they do this stuff last minute bc they know how unpopular it really is.
NEW: Kentucky’s GOP supermajority slid last-minute massive tax changes into a bill before it cleared a committee, and hours before it passed the House chamber Tuesday. The most significant change makes it easier to hit annual budget triggers for income tax cuts. #kyga25
