heh, I was looking thru my posts and I saw this one.

admittedly, it is an orange pi, and my internet is DSL

but almost every time I try Linux, I never see these "perceived" speed enhancements that Linux fans say exist

making some custom honing guides to 3d print, for a woodworking tool

first print was off my 3-6 thousandths of an inch for 11 cents worth of parts

man, I remember when being off by 60 thousandths was "good enough" I am getting fussy and lazy in my old age

#Watchmaking lathe

just testing, noting dimensioned, just took the #0 engraver and some 5mm brass

I've been busy.
dug out this (incomplete) watchmakers lathe from the garage and repairing it to the point of some functionality

internet searches say it is 140+ years old

early watchmakers were insane. they held their cutters with bare hands and were making parts out of metal as small as 0.1mm

improved some of the clamp stuff for my sainsmart 3018. white balls provide a single point of contact to clamp against, to (hopefully) help with keeping work against the table

and a sturdier clamp block
