I’ve read some of young Mosley’s direct quotes from presentations he’s given—and, similar to those from his Palantir pal Thiel, I find them disturbing, to say the least. Which doesn’t necessarily mean that he endorses elder Mosley’s views, but it’s easy to see how you’d get from point A to point B.

Yep, and while we’d hope that his descendants would universally reject his grotesque beliefs, it’s equally possible that they retained and passed down some of his bigotry even if it’s a watered down version (or, possibly, just a more careful media-conscious presentation of those beliefs).

@hilzoy.bsky.social Especially with close family, we all have a duty to examine how we’ve been shaped, unconsciously, by their actions, beliefs, and the environment we were raised in. An important part of maturing is investigating how those beliefs have impacted us.

Agreed that, of course, people should be judged by the content of their own character. But it also remains true that when someone’s espoused beliefs begin to echo those of a controversial relative, it’s reasonable to note that connection as one potentially relevant datapoint.

Two weeks ago I did a thread on how the Founding Fathers declared independence from the crown for behaving literally the same way as the Trump administration.

It's getting worse and Americans need to connect today's events to this founding document.
I just re-read the full Declaration of Independence. It's the most illuminating and depressing thing I've read in a while. Highly recommend folks give it a read.

Many — if not most — of the complaints levied against King George are indistinguishable from those brought against President Trump today.
