I have really enjoyed playing Magic Mountain with my 4 and 6 year old as it's a fun cooperative and dexterity game. If understanding Chess isn't an issue you can maybe even look into Captain Flip which is a great family game.

Mysterium Kidz is probably a bit easier for a five year old. Plus the tambourine is really fun.
