Your regular reminder that while total spend by libraries is increasing, that's a slower rate of increase than article output. We should be looking at spend per article for a fair discussion.

I talk about this a lot with my consulting hat on. The financial pressures on libraries to cover the costs of the ever-increasing article output, and the drivers of research misconduct, are driven in large part by the way we incentivise and measure researchers (1)

This is the first day in the last 14 weeks where there's no construction in my house. Instead there's a chimney coming down in the house next door, and my other half is live streaming a DJ set right behind me. Thank goodness for military-surplus ear-defenders
