Flowers and mountains 😍

This year is the first time I’ve seen much alpine collomia, and it’s a new favorite.

My view of the packed house of the #FightingOligarchy tour in Missoula, Montana!

7,500 seats filled, plus several hundred on a floor and about 1,500 outside! AOC and Bernie were wonderful, but our local speakers, especially USFS Smokejumper Sam Forstag, had me in (good) tears.

I finally planted my baby Jones’ bluestar (Amsonia jonesii) today! I collected seed a year and a half ago and grew them in Montana, and now they’ve finally made it into the ground in Colorado! They’re imperiled in Colorado and being bulldozed for a housing development.

View on my way to Missoula, Montana’s little protest to complement the ones happening at State Capitol buildings. Not a bad turnout there, and we got lots of supportive honks!

Frozen river as the storm rolled in last night ❄️
It’s sure feeling like winter around here - several inches of snow fell last night, and another several inches in the forecast.
Jagged pieces of ice form the frozen surface of a river, with a light dusting of snow in sheltered pockets. A smoother, more recently frozen portion of the river channel snakes in the near distance. In the far distance is an attractive walking bridge with golden lamps and the slope of a hill lost in the haze of the coming storm.

Tires were installed by ski patrol to cover rocks that get exposed by high winds just past a gate to reach an inbounds bowl.
