The gap between "I've won this" and "the game has noticed" is the issue. A long slog until you build The Amazing Thing/conquer the world/go to space while no-one else is in a position to challenge you.

Hexahedra is all delta, but it's a programming set-up-and-run game, so the factory is entirely deterministic and there's no need to worry about physics updates messing things up.

It also means if you supply negative deltas, the factory can run backwards if the player wants to rewind.

I discovered the hard way that it was actually possible to kill Shub-Niggurath with weapon damage, at which point the game played you the usual telefrag cutscene. Apparently later versions patched this.

That was how I finally worked out what the little spiky ball was for...

We had one of these when I was a kid.

As far as I can tell, my earliest memory is of me "helping" my dad to play Elite on one of these when I was a toddler. I got to press "M" to fire missiles.
