Govt "Fact Checks" = Govt Propaganda
These so-called "fact checks" are part of the administration's attack on objective journalism. Any report that might cast an undocumented immigrant in a positive light - or call into question the official government version - is treated as fake news. The hyperbolic tone of the video is intended to make Americans distrust and dismiss traditional news reports, even if they dutifully quote from the DHS talking points. That's because, in this administration, there are no nuances, no mistakes and no forgiveness.

We are entitled to our rage
Her story reminds us that we are entitled to demand a life free from the violence of men. We are entitled to demand more from our leaders, to demand an open investigation into the Epstein files, to demand accountability for the perpetrators regardless of political party or cultural cachet, to demand justice for the children and women trafficked by Mr. Epstein, and perhaps more than anything to demand actual real change in which a broken system is compelled to reinvention. In the meantime, we are entitled to all of our rage, and men, frankly, we would welcome a moment of gratitude from you that we have not burned this whole damn human enterprise down just yet.

Trump's propaganda works for a reason
Trump's use of "hoax" isn't random, it's strategic. It does three things at once: 1. Reverses reality. By declaring every inconvenient truth a fabrication, he inverts the moral order: the accused becomes the victim, and the accusers become the villains. 2. Conditions followers. The repetition creates cognitive immunity; by the tenth "hoax," even supporters struggle to distinguish fact from fiction. It signals to his base: Don't believe this. Don't trust them. Trust me. 3. Destroys accountability. Every scandal becomes political theater. Every consequence becomes persecution. Every truth-teller becomes an enemy.

So "Did women ruin the workplace?" does not land, for me, as a lively intellectual romp, but as a willful, deliberate f*ck-you to people who are materially impacted, right now, by their own government's desire to take away their autonomy, dignity and opportunity. Prominently platforming a vibes-based argument that the excess of power unreasonably wielded by women has warped the nation's institutions and should prompt a reconsideration of their civil rights, while their civil rights are being stripped away, is indefensible.

This wasn't the cinematic corruption of shredded files and backroom deals. It was procedural, bureaucratic, almost banal. A letter here, a memo there-each step designed to create the impression of finality. The cover-up was quiet, methodical, institutional. It protected not just the president, but the Department itself. To reopen Epstein's case would mean reopening the failures of those who handled it: prosecutors, investigators, political appointees. The reflex was not ideological but self-preserving.

Republicans right now have no accomplishments, no plans, and no vision. Why on earth would anyone be excited to go vote for them 12 months right now? Trump needs to ditch the foreign policy crap and focus all his attention on the domestic economy, which is still not working for the majority of people. Right now he looks weak and rudderless. Be mad all you want, but it's the truth. Newly minted college grads can't find work and are saddled with debt. Where is their path to the American dream right now? Who is giving them a vision of a future worth fighting for? You cannot have a viable country or future when half your country and all its young people are locked out of the economy and locked out of ever owning a home or much of anything beyond next month's streaming subscription. Does anyone in Washington care about this? Anyone at all? Republicans had better wake up, because right now their nightmare is only beginning if they don't start making massive changes.

Regardless of who or what political party is in power, the untouchable layer does not seem to change much, from marble-walled compounds in Dubai or Bahrain to gilded palaces in Palm Springs — and a billionaire’s private island where other billionaires visit and do whatever they want, no matter whom they hurt. Untouchables enrich one another, protect one another’s power and keep each others’ secrets. At this societal layer, Democratic and Republican parties become irrelevant, and debate is merely theater. There is only one party, and we are not in it.

The researchers dug into data from over 600 of the most popular podcasts of 2024, using data from Spotify. They found that within the top 100, nearly two-thirds were hosted by men - and nearly three-quarters of all guests were male, too. Women are particularly underrepresented in the business, tech, sports, fitness, and comedy genres.

The DOJ - and Bondi - need a reckoning
While Trump has offered a revolving door of justifications for the spate of boat strikes - including Article II commander-in-chief powers, terrorism prevention, drug interdiction, armed conflict and a broader war on narcotics trafficking - OLC has once again stepped into the breach by providing cover, or what its alum Jack Goldsmith has called a "golden shield" of immunity. Basically, it's the legal equivalent of a Supreme Court decision or prospective pardon that insulates executive officials from future criminal liability for their legal advice.
