It is *infuriating* how physical exercise actually makes you feel better.
I only learned that I hate literally every sport besides dodgeball that we did in class some 20 years later, and that has been kind of emblematic of my attitude towards exercise.

In trying to find something I've read to recommend I also found out just how much scifi and horror I have. I barely have anything else; I wasn't even consciously aware of that.

The Dresden Files series of books would fit with the humor and fantasy. Urban fantasy (about wizard in modern day chicago), each novel is its own thing despite overarching plot.

It's been a while since I read it, but my memory tells me that this exact thing, if a bit more clumsy, was described in Fahrenheit 451. I know it's gauche to compare things to the book, but this is almost a perfect match.
