Our work proposes a model in which STING trafficking and it’s neutralization of the Golgi pH may induce HOIP recruitment and M1-Ub chain formation, LC3B lipidation, and K63 Ub chain formation, at the same membranes. The M1-Ub chains are important for stimulating NFkB, but the jury is still out on the function of LC3B lipidation and the K63 Ub chains at Golgi membranes.
