I’m a professor emeritus from the Community College of Baltimore County and former chair of the Baltimore Democratic Party. I am currently writing novels dealing with social issues and I’m the illustrator of a children’s book series.

I was hopeful that the systems we had in place would prevent a dictatorship. I’m still holding onto a little bit of hope that the republicans in office will choose principle over party.

The only thing I can think of is fear of retribution. The monster in chiefs power grows daily. I’m heartbroken.

She believed in a holistic approach - beyond academics she taught gardening, cooking, etc. She ran into trouble with her own community who worried children were learning to be servants. But she was a follower of Booker T Washington and believed job skills would improve the economics of community.

I loved that you shared this but despise what is happening. Violence against disabled children sanctioned by the Bible? Really? Is that what Jesus would have done? Ugh.
