A reminder: Asylum seekers are in hotels because of a huge application backlog that the gov't must work through. Robert Jenrick - now, bursting with creative solutions - processed applications slowly ***on purpose*** as a deterrent.

Here he is, as Immigration Minister two years ago, saying so. ~AA

You mention these people accused of witchcraft and how many were killed. Did they have anything in common? For example, how many of them might have been women? Your misogyny is showing again

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

It's that time of the year. The Utrecht fish digi-doorbell opens today for the fifth time. You can watch a live feed and help migrating fish through the sluice gate. It's ace. Here's my piece about it from a couple of years ago www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

QI has tweeted about it, American football players have put it on their TikTok and over a million viewers have been hooked in. All you do is wait for a fish, press a button – and save their lives

Excellent news that this has reached a favourable (and public) settlement.

It is extraordinary how slowly the Forstater memo is landing with employers. Almost as if there were activists spreading misinformation about its extent.

Welcome to the year 45x45 (2025). The last time we had a square year 44x44 (1936) fascism and antisemitism were on the rise across Europe and the world faced years of war. Just saying. Oh and the King abdicated.
