🧵Billions in opioid settlement💰is meant to help curb addiction—but what happens if it’s misspent? Some advocates say state attorneys general should be paying closer attention. Until they do, a crowdsourced database tracking potential misuse could help. kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

What’s wild is that this reticence to legalize FTSes mostly disadvantages rich people using cocaine. Yes really.

People using heroin or pressed pills in Texas have (correctly) assumed that fent is in their stuff for years. They’ve adapted.

It’s the finance bros in Dallas getting blindsided now.
Help us PLEASE.

All of this work is coming down to ONE GUY. Senator Flores has to decide to hear this bill, which has broad bipartisan support and was sponsored by a GOP member.

Call Flores and firmly but politely insist that he hear HB 1644. (512) 463-0124

Attempt to decriminalize fentanyl testing strips in Texas could stall in the Senate for a third time
Opponents fear that fentanyl test strips will increase the usage of the deadly drug.

NEW: As opioid deaths begin trending down, proposed Medicaid cuts could interrupt care. Data show that Medicaid is key in the opioid response—covering 47% of all adults w/OUD, 56% of those receiving medication, and 64% receiving outpatient care. See @kff.org brief: www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...
Implications of Potential Federal Medicaid Reductions for Addressing the Opioid Epidemic | KFF
Medicaid is the main source of coverage for adults with opioid use disorder and among those receiving treatment services. Most adults with OUD in Medicaid are eligible through Medicaid expansion.

I fear that harm reduction as a sociopolitical ethos is cooked if we can’t sort out intersectionality.

For years I’ve added comments like “it’s awesome but it’s very white, which we need to collectively sort out” to my explanations. I should’ve pushed harder and yelled louder the moment I saw it.
