Oh hey, my #auspol #JSCEM submission [235] got approved in the same tranche as @kevinbonham.bsky.social [243] today! (With how late to it I know we both were (at least prior to the February extension) I wasn't expecting either to hit the web until after the new year.)
December 11, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Completely missed that the #auspol #JSCEM reopened submissions and the new deadline is the end of February. So I guess that's not wrapping up anytime soon.

2:45am given as the time of adjournment in the draft votes and proceedings. #politas
Er what, LegCo stadium debate is still on at 1 am! Why have they not adjourned? #politas

Another #auspol year over, another Dynamic Rüd from the Senate: adjourned.senate.gov.au/2025/

Unfortunately, Rudolph's anti-discrimination bill has once more been referred to committee. No reindeer games for the poor chap this year.

Another #auspol election, another #JSCEM submission from Mackerras [0141] railing hopelessly against the idea that, maybe, sometimes, lying to the public by instructing them to do more than strictly required on Senate ballots MIGHT actually be acting in their best interests.
November 19, 2025 at 2:31 AM
I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing more I can put into this #auspol #JSCEM submission and have put it into their hands. Come back in Some Time™ when it goes public and I am allowed to show it off.

The #auspol #JSCEM have announced that submissions to the 2025 Federal Election inquiry will close on Friday, 14 November 2025, alongside an initial dump of 86 submissions. Tomorrow's hearing takes evidence from Global Shield, Prof Rubenstein and the EIAT.
October 30, 2025 at 2:17 AM
A long day ahead for the #auspol #JSCEM tomorrow as they open their public hearings with the AEC, two think tanks, a former MP, and two academics.

Charles Wooley resigns as Deputy Mayor and Councillor after moving out of the #Sorell area. The resignation will result in a recount for councillor and a ballot of the councillors for deputy mayor. Both positions expire in October 2026. #lgtas

i better actually write this stupid submission, eh
#JSCEM federal election 2025 inquiry is now open for submissions with these terms of reference, however I cannot at this stage find the closing date.

Actually learnt something about parliamentary procedure today. The pro forma Acts Enumeration Amendment Bill is a fascinating bit of legislative tradition. #politas

#EMRS in the field (online panel)
- preferred treasurer
- support levels for mooted budget relief ideas
- respondent asked if they have their own ideas
- first preference at recent election

today's #auspol #JSCEM submission preparation antics: i have created a chart that is actually 56 smaller charts split over eight pages. it's very pretty, but i'm not sure how useful it is, and i'm probably just going to stuff it in an appendix.

i really don't see a path for di falco to make a #politas deal with either major party, and that's probably bad news for the liberals

New Tasmanian MP says gun law reform a priority for crossbench deal
Newly elected Shooters, Fishers and Farmers MP Carlo Di Falco says gun law reform will be one of his bargaining chips when he negotiates support for Tasmania's next government.

One is left wondering what the point of any of this was. At least the deckchairs are nicely shuffled.

Dishonourable mention to the Nationals, who on early figures haven't even outpolled SFF. Truly, bafflingly terrible showing. #politas

Oh no! Nobody voted! #politas (Okay, obviously it's not 6:45pm yet. :P)

another family election lecture in the books. here's hoping i don't have to do that again until #lgtas in october next year. three this close together has not been fun. #politas

realising now that not only have i misinterpreted Schedule 3(1A)(4), but even my misinterpreted text is not correctly implemented (no one noticed the first half was the same as the second half?), but that's okay, it'll be correct when it matters
This Robson Rotation visualisation has come out almost exactly the way I pictured it. Is it actually useful? Hard to say. #Franklin #politas

Thinking today about how every change to the #politas electoral system since Federation has failed to have the intended effect. 1909, switch to Hare-Clark to hurt Labor, Labor improves position. 1959, 30>35 to stop deadlocks, immediately produces hung parliament. 1/2

Apparently after they said this the polling places went up on Saturday. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #politas
Aaaaaand we're delayed to (at least) next Wednesday. #politas
After first delaying the release of pre-polling locations from 23 June to sometime that week (26 ended up being it) and then similarly delaying the polling day booths from 30 June, here we are on Friday and I've seen nothing. Sounds like the TEC are having a rough time. #politas
