i have never again gotten the same feeling as when i beat this game

with this new version, i’ve incorporated it as one unit, but the metal guides screw directly into the playfield via 12mm steel spacers. this puts them right at the center of the pinball, ensuring that the ball rides on the metal. these will finally function exactly as traditional ball guides do

in that photo i tried a similar solution to incorporate steel strip into the guides, and it *kinda* worked. however, the metal portions weren’t tied directly into the playfield, so it still bounced

the problem i’ve had previously is that with 3d printed guides, the impact from the ball will bounce off of it rather that being smoothly redirected (at most angles). in this photo the small loop toward the bottom, and the loop in the vertical section above both didn’t work quite right bc of this

so, normal ball guides in commercial games are steel strips that are screwed directly to the playfield. when the ball hits a guide at any angle besides 90 degrees, that impact gets absorbed and redirected such that the ball will glide smoothly along the guide

it needs a lot more juice, it’s about as visually simple as it could be. but everything finally works exactly as it should!

snake is not especially exciting, i want to do more interesting weird little games. but, given this is in a bar, they need to be: intuitive, quick, fun, and fun to watch.

i am also not that great a programmer, so snake alone has been a challenge lol

behold! snake in a boiler! mostly!

these are for two separate (but related) games, but they’d actually work well as a two part thing now that i look at them

dang, it’s been a while since i’ve snap ordered a book so quickly, this looks great!
