And it doesn’t go too far the other way either. He had a crossroads and he chose the villain path. You know why he picked it and his reasoning makes sense, but he’s still wrong and you still get to hate him. But he feels REAL.

It’s a wonderfully deft villain origin story that makes you understand WHY the villain became such a bad person without apologizing for him. You understand where he came from without feeling like you’re supposed to pity him.
