(He/Any...figuring it out)
Graphic artist looking for work. Mostly album art and book layout, but I do a bit of everything.

PFP: Walking wrecked robot with glowing innards.

Banner: Elaborately painted Gundam with a cat obscuring three sides of the frame.
My Mercenaries Kickstarter came in. I'm ready for some Blåhatech.

I desperately need Catalyst and HBS to figure out the licensing issue keeping the Bull Shark from having an official mini and record sheet...

Why is it never the artifact stealing Christofascists that get taken down? I'm not actually super interested in the answer.

Much better setup than the last batch.

Now with more cardboard!

Needed a drying rack and had a bunch of cardboard left over from an IKEA shelf. Look ma, no measurements!

Having seen this, I post a robot.

Finished my take on Grant Abbitt's Dungeon Door tutorial. It was more time consuming than the other's I've worked on, but I really like the results. Pointiness-based procedural textures are fantastic. I do wish he had taken the tutorial all the way to the lighting stage, though.

Oh hell yeah.

The coloring begins! I'm digging this method of procedural colors for a couple reasons:
1) My brief foray into UV unwrapping wasn't great (room for improvement, for sure).
2) Using the sharpness modifier and gradients feels a lot like using washes and edge highlighting on minis.

And with this, I'll be able to start coloring stuff. It was on this step that I realized Abbitt provided his own sketch for people to work from and hadn't intended people to use their own...but I've enjoyed making this door mine.

Last thing to get sculpted will be the lock, then I think it's on to colors!

Here's a closeup of the door. I'm really impressed by how Blender renders something with no texture and one light...cycles is nuts.

Tonight's Dungeon Door progres before bed.

8v8 classic BattleTech, tonight, on 4 adjacent hex maps. Finally taken this over-embellishes over-washed Griffin for a spin.

Progress before I stop for the night.

Part 1 of Grant Abbit's "Dungeon Door" tutorial done. Need to put it down for a bit to work on a different project but so far I'm really happy with it. I definitely overcomplicated it by sketching out ram horns and a latch/padlock rather than just a ring handle. (This is my third Blender tutorial).

Without downloading any new pics, what's your energy going into 2024?

Current progress on my first round of mechs meant to have a place in canon BattleTech. Just locked the paint in with a coat of future polish. Next step is black and brown wash, matte varnish, gloss for the windshields, then basing.

Sometimes I forget how bright this 20+ year old pot of Citadel Mithril Silver is. Grey Death camo done with two layers of Army Painter Gravelord Grey Speed paint 1.0 over Ash Grey primer. Next will be some Tin Bitz and something bright for the canopy glass, red details, future polish, then washes.
