There is truth to that but AI is also enabling life saving technologies and science. The people who stole the art and literature to train their models should be held accountable. I hope they will be. Lawsuits are underway.

Exactly. Remember how things were before the printing press? How few had access to knowledge? The pace of discovery has been speeded up by good tools and we have the luxury of thinking, with the world’s knowledge at our finger tips. It’s up to us what we do with it, rather than turn back the clock.

Critical thinking is exactly what’s needed to be a good user of AI. Can’t believe everything one reads on the internet.

I am one of those who take these measurements and stuff. Check out the AI guru Yann LeCun for more.

That would be like teaching math with an abacus when there are supercomputers around. We have to build on already existing knowledge to push the boundaries of thinking and discover new ideas.

No, it’s not. AI is just a tool like a word processor. It is entirely up to the user how to use it. You can be lazy and let it think for you, or you can use it as a great teaching tool to push your students to explore topics in greater depth than a traditional time-bound class room would.

Everyone knows the Republican senators are just putting on an act of opposing. They will as usual do what Trump tells them to do. Whatever.

All you unwanted tourists, Forget Europe. There is great cultural stuff and art in the rest of the world. Try Mexico City for museums, South Asia and Southeast Asia for ancient art, sculpture, culture and history. Turkey is another fantastic confluence of art, culture and history. Go forth, y’all.

Perception vs science? Our education system has failed if members of congress fall for this BS.

It’s about power and money, not IQ. We’ve always been worshipping jerks: robber barons, royalty, athletes, hedge fund bros. So let’s not denigrate intelligence and glorify ignorance which is what got us to this moment in time of flat-earthers and vaccine stupidity. We need thinkers not influencers.
