Not sure yet whether this will be a break or departure from @bluesky - feeling very disillusioned right now.

Thought this would be a great platform to express myself on #auspol and social/health policy, and have reconnected with many from X, and found others to follow and who have followed me.

Hartcher wants Marles to be as effective a Defence Minister as he is a hatchet man.

Suspect his talent is building and wielding his own - not national - power!

#Auspol With the Greens being required to pass Legislation ( unless Labor do deals with the Coalition ). Labor and the Greens should work very hard at passing Legislation with little Drama. Thr Greens have a chance to rebuild confidence in them if they are seen to respect Labors mandate.

Starmer’s ‘nothing’ deal with Trump is a warning sign for Albanese

This is a list of concessions more than a trade deal, and one in which the UK is still subject to billions worth of tariffs that didn’t exist last year.

Starmer’s ‘nothing’ deal with Trump is a warning sign for Albanese
Both leaders claimed a much-needed political win. Given the Trump administration’s desire to keep most tariffs in place, that might be all that’s up for grabs.

Marles is all about building his power base. If positions were decided on talent, rather than numbers, perhaps he’d be for the chopping block, instead of Dreyfus and Husic.

Price believes she’s going to save the Liberal Party. Clearly doesn’t get that her divisive, combative and right wing politics were part of the problem.
The Libs ignored the 2022 election postmortem. With Price taking a leadership role, will they do the same in 2025?

The Greens were elected to negotiate better outcomes. Instead, they obstructed until the 11th hour and then let everything through.
Yet, they still want to blame preferences (in a preferential voting system).

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but the Greens should take a leaf out of Peter Dutton’s book and show some dignity in defeat. Whining about preferential voting - a cornerstone of fair representation in Australia - because it's not going their way, is a very bad look. #auspol

Reckon they heard it this time?

Pretty clear now that the community made a decisive and deliberate choice.

There was not a movement to replace Govt members with Greens and independents like in 2022.

A seat that could make or break Lib’s Sukkar.

For a party that claims it wants to keep the Coalition out, it seems to be cutting its nose off despite its face.

Seems Taylor was suggesting the way natural attrition in the #PublicService will work to not replace people, while only cutting Canberra jobs, will be to move a Canberra person to another location whenever someone leaves a regional job.
