Ok after just about surviving the violence inducing start to this hobby, I think I might actually nearly be entering the 'maybe it actually could be relaxing' stage.... I might only ever do one stitch, but hey, lots of them make a blanket right?

A nice day of webinars about witch trials, chilling with the dog, and carving a pumpkin (the first we've had for years!). Now opted for Omen 3 for evening viewing. Happy Halloween y'all, I hope you are enjoying yourselves 🖤

Finally watched Late Night With the Devil - more comedy than I was expecting, but very enjoyable and would probably stand up to a rewatch. Very well executed and some interesting threads. Reminded me a little of @thenosleeppodcast.bsky.social vibes 🖤

Get yourself a partner that looks at you the same way as my dog looks at the forbidden chicken burger 😅🖤

Finished 'Old Soul' by Susan Barker last night and still thinking about it. Such a gorgeously written, unnerving horror. It's not loud, or gory, but it sneaks under your skin. Highly recommend (especially as it is spooky season, after all) 🖤😱

Been gradually introducing this menace to being off lead (quiet places, trying to make it as safe and controlled as possible) - today was one of those days where there were moments where her training seemed to go straight out the window and I felt like such a bad dog mom

Feeling the Fallout vibes around the village. Looking forward to the second season, and thinking I might need to break the games out again 🖤

Feels like the feed needs more animals right now. I offer these shifty looking candidates. Plotting, as always 🖤

Taking a lie down at lunch to try and stave off the unwelcome guest of a migraine and Marles is practicing her bedside manner. Very sweet, albeit probably related to her main concern over if this is going to impact her next walk 🖤

A book I keep thinking about and would be my go-to recommend at the moment if someone were to ask is Emily Habeck's 'Shark Heart' which I guess is a romance but also so many other things in a weird sci-fi fable and it made me cry (twice) but I love it 🖤🦈

Reached the point in doing up the kitchen where I'm starting to wonder if we could just call this a feature wall

International cat day, during which Diesel celebrates by contemplating how to take over the world, but gets distracted by sleep and biscuits 🖤 #internationalcatday

Managed to time lunchtime's dog walk with the worst of the rain, but the park was empty so I let the dog off lead and we played ball for a bit... Until she knocked me down like a ten pin bowling skittle so we came home soaked and slightly bruised 😅 now if only I could have a nap like her 🖤

I don't think I've talked about this much here but my novel GRIND SPARK will be 9 years old this year and it's still one of my favourite achievements #booksky thedustlounge.com/grind-spark-...

No idea what's with the influx of followers, nice to meet people, or maybe many bots 🤔 hello either way, welcome to sporadic posts and pictures about writing, books, cats and dogs 🖤

Just last week I was here. Feels maybe a year ago. Wales is such a beautiful part of the world 🖤

The longer days mean there's time to get the dog out into the fields after work - she gets a good sniff around, I get to shake off the days stress, we both come home knackered. Everyone's a winner 🖤😴

Wooden slats wind around the coast until they fade and you're left in the company of the sea's ghosts

And the dog had so many firsts - first time stopping overnight somewhere new, first time in the sea, first time on a tram... she had the best time and was the best girl 🖤

Back from a beautiful, much needed break in North Wales, life's worries and chores held in suspension for a few days. Weather was gorgeous, quiet places were quiet, time spent well with good, good friends 🖤
