You could literally do a horror anthology based on the different ways this can go wrong.

AI dead mom escapes into your TV, and your digital fridge, and your pacemaker.
What if AI dead mom ends up neglected just like one of those digital picture frames. Sold at a digital goodwill for $2.50.

Ahhh another story rejection at second stage - from a dream market though so I'll take that as a mini win 🥳🖤

Oh no. I stayed up late learning to crochet a granny square, now I'm too excited to sleep because I'm thinking about the granny square I'll do tomorrow. 🖤😴🧶

Ok after just about surviving the violence inducing start to this hobby, I think I might actually nearly be entering the 'maybe it actually could be relaxing' stage.... I might only ever do one stitch, but hey, lots of them make a blanket right?

Out of interest, how do you find out about anthology calls for flash and short fiction? Anyone have any good pointers/resources?

Ah woke up to a rejection from a flash piece that had made it past the first round, a special kind of conflicted sadness. Once again back to the writing board 🖤

A nice day of webinars about witch trials, chilling with the dog, and carving a pumpkin (the first we've had for years!). Now opted for Omen 3 for evening viewing. Happy Halloween y'all, I hope you are enjoying yourselves 🖤

Judging by the intermittent screaming down the street, kids are starting trick or treat at *checks watch* 9am these days 😅

So today would have been my mom's birthday. The second one since she passed. Grief has been a strange beast. Aggressive in the beginning, an ache over time. Now an occasional sense of unmooring. Time changes things, but doesn't change that she was an amazing woman who I still miss very much 🖤

When cats are confused by or upset about something, they just smack the shit out of whatever it is that's frustrating them and I think that's beautiful.

This is actually making me want to do violence 😅
Bought myself a starter crochet kit thinking it would be a nice relaxing autumny pastime and OMG it's so hard how do I do this my fingers don't work like this 😅

This kind of thing always reminds me of the time a guy said to me he wouldn't want to read fantasy books by women, suggested I 'try out some of Robin Hobb's books, HE's great' (oh, of course I'd already read some of HER books, she is indeed great) 😅
"Women are not usually into science fiction"is legitimately one of the stupidest, most divorced from reality sentences I have ever read in my life
okay grandpa, let's get you to bed

Finally watched Late Night With the Devil - more comedy than I was expecting, but very enjoyable and would probably stand up to a rewatch. Very well executed and some interesting threads. Reminded me a little of @thenosleeppodcast.bsky.social vibes 🖤

First draft done of a short story that's been brewing in my mind for a while now - folktale, scary (or maybe not?) cats, radioactive wasteland. It needs some cleaning up but nice to be in the wordmill again 🖤

Finished 'Old Soul' by Susan Barker last night and still thinking about it. Such a gorgeously written, unnerving horror. It's not loud, or gory, but it sneaks under your skin. Highly recommend (especially as it is spooky season, after all) 🖤😱

Tech bros are like, "In our newest update, a tentacle will grow out of your device and slap you throughout the day. This is the most innovative update of our era! There's no way to opt out of the update. The tentacles are made from human souls but the souls don't mind! Everyone is happy about this!"

this is always always always the case. times weren't simpler. things weren't Better. You just miss being a kid.
Yeah, I think I see the problem here - it's not that the video store was good, it's that you miss being a teenager
