Obviously this is not condoning treating anyone with disdain and hate, especially not people struggling with mental health issues, my point is to show that the argument 'they're mentally ill' as a reason to dehumanise a minority doesn't hold up.

It's interesting that these shows push that we need to follow the rules of society/work places, except in very special cases when people (usually those in positions of power) decide they know better, or have special privilege because they are well known.

When she says no she blames the strict rules. But, as with almost all Starfleet/Cop/Detective fiction, the reaction to breaking the strict overhead rules is entirely based on the outcome, the moral of which they decide.

To be fair I think it's more the writers than the actor. If it was logical fluctuation (ie learning from previous experiences) it would make sense, but just seems that she chooses when and who she gets involved with.

Interesting that at times they are adamant they can do nothing because of the prime directive, even enough they say they wish they could. But seems it's more that they will pick and choose who they will ignore it for, which kind of defeats the purpose of having strict rules in Starfleet.

Yes, 'AI' gives sci-fi vibes of death and doom and power. It also lumps a load of technologies together so discussion around accessibility and ethics are pitted against each other, instead of considering nuance and allowing for constructive discussion.

They're afraid everyone will realise they shouldn't have to conform to white cis men's control, they try to convince us that not doing so is dangerous (which I guess it is - to those in power and ultra wealth who are hoarding all our resources and human rights).
